The Dress Rehearsal: Why Jupiter Tested Its Launchpad on WEN

The Wen cat at the wheel
The first car off the line: WEN on Jupiter's LFG Launchpad

Before Jupiter airdropped its own token to the whole Solana community, it needed to know whether its launchpad, its claim system and the network itself would survive a million people arriving at once. The answer was WEN. This post records the dress rehearsal — and checks a long list of "twenty technical benefits" that grew around it, keeping only what can be shown.

Why rehearse

Software can be tested in a lab, but a public launch is different: real wallets, real bots, real congestion. Jupiter chose to run its first launchpad event with a community coin before the event that mattered most — its own token. If something broke, it would break on a meme, with lessons learned before $JUP.

The rehearsal, day by day

  • January 25, 2024 — Meow announces "Immortalizing WEN Culture"; the WNS 0.0 proposal is posted.
  • January 26, 2024 — WEN launches as the first token on the LFG Launchpad; more than a million wallets can claim. The network stays up — see the stress test.
  • January 29, 2024 — the claim window closes; more than 271 billion unclaimed WEN, over 27% of supply, are burned (Decrypt).
  • January 31, 2024 — the $JUP airdrop follows, with the lessons applied.

One correction to the original: the poem was split into one trillion tokens, not a billion.

What the rehearsal taught

  • The chain held under a peak of thousands of transactions per second.
  • Bots were the weak spot. Jupiter's co-founder said so publicly the same day — and fair-launch defences became a priority.
  • Claim windows work. A fixed window plus a burn of the remainder left no ambiguous leftover supply.
  • Standards can ride along. WNS was introduced with the launch, so the experiment produced a tool, not only a token.

Twenty claims, checked

The original post carried a table of "20 core utility properties". Some describe what happened; many are guesses written in technical language. Our reading:

ClaimVerdict
Tested claims for over a million wallets; first LFG launchPrimary source
Gave data on bot activityPrimary source — the co-founder's own words
Showed that a split poem can trade as ordinary tokensVerified — it is how WEN works
Introduced WNS alongside the launchPrimary source — the WNS 0.0 proposal
"Tuned Solana's fee formulas", "calibrated AMM equations", "optimised RPC nodes"Unverified — no published source
"Refined Jupiter Mobile", "synced with Seeker phone hardware"Unverified — those products came later
"A community of 230,000 members"Reported · official X — the figure Wen uses in its own announcements; see the official X account

The real list is shorter and better: a launch that worked, a weakness admitted, a burn that settled the supply, and a standard left behind.

Check before you trust: the WEN contract

The one and only WEN mint on Solana is WENWENvqqNya429ubCdR81ZmD69brwQaaBYY6p3LCpk. Compare it character by character with the Solana Explorer and the official site wenwencoin.com. A short video shows how: find the ID contract. Names, tickers and logos can be copied; the address cannot.
