Meow Is Back: Planetary Call #60 and the Road from $WEN to $JUP
Historical post This post records events as they were reported at the time. Facts are checked against sources; nothing here is a forecast.
Some community calls are routine. Planetary Call #60 was a homecoming. On November 19, 2025, Jupiter's long-running community show brought back @weremeow — Meow, the pseudonymous cat behind Jupiter and the author of the poem that gave birth to $WEN. For the Wen community this was more than a product update: it was a reminder that the cat coin and the biggest swap aggregator on Solana share one origin story. This post looks at what the call promised, what we can verify, and why it matters for anyone who wants to understand Wen beyond the meme.
What Planetary Call #60 was
Planetary Calls are Jupiter's recurring community broadcasts — part update, part town hall, part comedy show — where the team walks the "Jupiverse" through what shipped, what broke and what comes next. The sixtieth edition was published by the Jupiter Group channel under a title that said everything: Meow is Back on the Planetary Call #60. The announcement promised three things: a catch-up on everything happening across the Jupiverse, the vision for Catlumpur, and early thoughts on "one special thing" planned for 2026. It streamed on YouTube, with sign-up through Luma, and the recording is embedded below so you can judge it for yourself.
Why did a routine call draw so much attention? Because Meow had been quiet in public for months. Communities read silence the way markets read charts: every week without a word becomes a theory. Posts from Spanish, Thai and English-speaking Catdets — Jupiter's name for its community — used the same phrases: "big news incoming", "you won't want to miss it". One Thai member set an alarm for the 10:30 PM local start. We do not quote any of that as a forecast; we quote it as a snapshot of how a community behaves when its founder returns.
Who Meow is, in checked facts
Meow, also known as @weremeow, is the pseudonymous co-founder of Jupiter, the most used swap aggregator on Solana. According to his public profile summarised by Crunchbase, he earlier served as an advisor to Ethereum-era projects such as Instadapp, Kyber and Blockfolio reported, and he is also linked to Meteora, the liquidity layer, and to the memecoin launcher Moonshot. His signature on Solana is a style rather than a product: playful, frank, meme-literate, and unusually open about mistakes.
For Wen readers the key fact is simpler. In January 2024 Meow wrote a poem, "A Love Letter to Wen Bros". That poem was minted as an NFT and fractionalized into a trillion pieces that trade like ordinary Solana tokens — and those pieces are $WEN. The story is told in full on our About Wen page, and the quiz on this site asks about it more than once.
On the call, co-host @kashdhanda handled the dad jokes, Meow handled the zero-nonsense recaps. That mix of whimsy and engineering is exactly why Planetary Calls turn technical updates into moments people share.
A pulse check of the Jupiverse
The "catch up on everything" segment is the backbone of every Planetary Call. The Jupiverse is not one app but a flywheel: swaps and routing, limit orders and DCA, perpetual futures backed by the JLP pool, staking, and governance through the $JUP token and the Jupiter DAO. Going into the call, the talking points in the community were familiar:
- Product momentum. More automated strategies, perpetuals and mobile features. Community posts claimed Jupiter routes more than 60% of Solana swap volume unverified; the share moves month to month, so treat any single number as a snapshot.
- Governance. The DAO's work-group model, which Meow championed, funds community-led initiatives such as grants and airdrop design.
- Hard questions. Token unlocks, vesting and airdrop seasons always draw criticism; members expected candid answers rather than slogans opinion.
This almanac deliberately stays away from prices. Whatever the market did that week, the lasting value of a call like this is in what it explains: how a large open project reasons in public, admits trade-offs and invites its users into the decision.
Catlumpur: from Catstanbul to Kuala Lumpur
The second promise of the call was the vision for Catlumpur — a feline pun on Kuala Lumpur and the name of Jupiter's flagship real-world gathering. Its predecessor, Catstanbul, took place in Istanbul. Catlumpur was set for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, at the turn of January and February 2026, with an unconference format in which attendees shape the sessions instead of watching a stage. We covered the event and its video in a separate post: Catlumpurr in Kuala Lumpur: video and story.
The third promise — "one special thing for 2026" — was left as a teaser. We do not guess what it was; when the facts are public, they go into the almanac with a source, as everything else does.
Where $WEN fits in: father and son, bound by code
In the Wen community you will often hear that Jupiter and Wen are "bound by code like father and son". The phrase is poetic, but the facts behind it are concrete:
- January 2024 — the standard. The Wen New Standard (WNS) appeared as a lightweight, open-source NFT standard built on Solana's Token-2022 extensions, designed for composability and low overhead. Our pages on Token-2022 and WNS and the Wen Program Library review explain how it works.
- January 26, 2024 — the launch. $WEN was the first token on Jupiter's LFG Launchpad and was airdropped to more than one million eligible Solana wallets — a public rehearsal for the much larger $JUP airdrop days later. How Solana handled that traffic is the subject of our post on the launch-day stress test.
- After the launch — the habit. Builders adopted WNS quickly: AssetDash minted the first 10,000-piece collection on it within weeks. The WNS 0.0 proposal on Jupiter's research forum documents the design.
That habit of testing in public is the thread our Wen Open Lab picks up: the same open technology, turned into free models for receipts, royalties and invoices that anyone can run and check.
