Be Happy: the Wen Song and the Lucky Cat
Historical post This post records events as they were reported at the time. Facts are checked against sources; nothing here is a forecast.
In June 2025 the community released a song about the Wen cat in several languages: a simple, happy story about kindness and a space cat who shares a little happiness with everyone. It is one of the best examples of what this almanac calls positive-sum culture — made for free, shared for free. Here is the song, its lucky-cat roots, and the parts of the original post we checked.
The song
Words, music and graphics by community members @OlegT39484998 and @alexwoogo. A few lines:
Meow, meow, meow — who's here? It's me, Cat Wen! Your sweet cat, your space friend. I wish everyone happiness here… We gather strength together, we assemble suits for space, we refuel our spaceship — we all fly to Jupiter.
"Be Happy", the Wen song, June 2025
A lucky cat with a raised paw
The song's poster shows the Wen cat with one paw raised and the word "Maneki" — a nod to Japan's beckoning cat, a symbol of luck and welcome for centuries. The song keeps the old meaning and adds a new one: luck is something you share ("touch me, and I will give you a piece of happiness"). Why songs matter
A token is a line in a ledger. A culture is what people make around it — songs, art, toys, stories. The Wen song sits beside the community's open folders, the charity plush and the Elevate story world: all of them make the cat something you can know, not only something you can hold.
Claims in the original, checked
- "Exactly one trillion fractional units" — correct for the original supply. After the January 2024 burn of more than 271 billion unclaimed tokens, the supply is lower (Decrypt); the current figure is on the explorer.
- "A fixed circulation of 747 billion" — circulating figures depend on the source and the date; check the mint yourself rather than trusting a round number.
- "The first fractional NFT on Solana" — WEN was billed by its creators as the first community coin based on a fractional NFT; we keep that wording as described.
- "Built on WNS" — WEN arrived together with the WNS proposal; WNS is an NFT standard, and WEN itself is a regular Solana token.
- Removed: a "talisman" passage urging people to hold tokens for their children, and four invented "search index" tables.
