Usefulness is the most important thing in the world, and it is measured by what people can do that they could not do before. Here is what the Lab's open models give to each group, where they fit, and where honesty says they do not.
Who gains what
| Who | What they gain | Start here |
|---|---|---|
| Developers | Working, tested TypeScript on official Solana tools; a local test harness; no paid SDK | Roadmap |
| Online shops | Unforgeable receipts and warranties; a payments bridge; a cost model | 1, 4, 5 |
| B2B networks | Settlement rules enforced by the token: fees, approved partners, invoice numbers | 3 |
| Banks and fintech | A transparent technical reference for stablecoin acceptance and tokenized settlement | 3, 4 |
| Creators | Royalties that live in the token, not in a platform's policy | 2 |
| The Wen community | Proof that a meme can leave useful public goods; a reason to build, not only to hold | WPL review |
Five kinds of usefulness
- Trust without intermediaries. Rules run in the token and are visible to everyone.
- Speed. Confirmation in seconds instead of settlement in days.
- Lower cost. Network fees are a fraction of a cent; check your full costs in the simulator.
- Privacy by design. Hashes on-chain, personal data off-chain.
- Open access. Free code, open standards, no licence fees for the tools.
Where it does not fit (yet)
- Customers without wallets and without interest in getting one.
- Payments that legally require chargeback-style buyer protection.
- Regulated money services without a licensed partner.
- Anything that has not been tested on devnet and reviewed by an auditor.
How to take part
- Run the code, break it, and tell the community what you found on X (@wenwencoin).
- Fork the models into your own project under Apache-2.0.
- Follow the roadmap: devnet demo, WNS group registration, royalty hook sample and the audit checklist come next.

Where Wen fits in this model
Wen ties it together. The WEN token proved the Token-2022 and WNS machinery at the scale of a million wallets; the Lab turns that proof into free tools; and the WEN contract travels with every model as the community's signature. Utility first, attention second, and no promises of profit.
The Wen thread: one contract, everywhere
Every model in the Lab is free and open, and every one carries the same signature: the $WEN token contract. Copy it, repeat it in your own docs, and always verify it against an explorer before use.

Open use policy
- Free and open. All Lab code is released under the Apache License 2.0, the same license as the Wen Program Library. Use it, change it, ship it, commercially or not; keep the license notice.
- Open tools only. Built on public, documented tools: Solana SPL Token-2022 (Token Extensions), the token layout of the Wen New Standard (WNS), Solana Pay, and LiteSVM for local testing.
- The rule: always verify your own model. Run the tests, start on devnet, read the official documentation, review every account and amount, and get an independent audit before any mainnet use. A model that is not checked is not a model, it is a guess.
- Not audited, not advice. These are educational examples. They are not financial, legal or tax advice, and not a licensed payment or banking product. Payments, stablecoins and acquiring are regulated activities in most countries.
- Security. Never paste a private key into a website. Do not install the npm package
@wen-community/wen-new-standard: npm removed it as malicious. Build from official sources.
